
Ms. Navarro was rocking it today with one of our new guitars that was donated today to SENSE. This donation greatly assists in growing Ms. Whittle’s awesome guitar program.
One of our School Board members, Lee Lewellen, donated two more acoustic guitars and one classical guitar, along with guitar stands and straps. Mr. Lewellen has been very generous to SENSE. He previously donated multiple guitars and musical equipment towards supporting our music program. He has also donated new coats, sweaters and games. And for that we thank him ever so much!

The SENSE Charter food pantry will be open to our families tomorrow Thursday, March 21st from 8:30 to 9:30 am and again 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Please remember to bring your own shopping bags for extra points.


Arthur's Music Store keeps SENSE rockin'! With a generous donation of $1,000, Arthur's Music Store continues to support our school's music program. Ms. Whittle just purchased up another bass guitar from them to add to her growing musical instruments collection that she makes available to our students. This new purchase make available though this funding from Arthur's. Pictured here is Amy England (left) and Linda Osborn. They are the family act (and owners) of Arthur's Music Store.
There are so many good reasons as to why playing a musical instrument is important, including that it is documented that it makes you smarter, less stressed, builds confidence, teaches patience, gives you a sense of achievement and is just plain fun! We are grateful to Arthur's Music Store for bring these many gifts to our school community.

It’s that time of year! SENSE is preparing for the re-enrollment of current students and accepting applications for their siblings for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. Fourth Graders in Mrs. Dillard and Ms. O’s class started presenting their novel study projects over The One and Only Ivan today. The dioramas turned out great!

Mrs. Sickbert’s first graders completed S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, math) family homework projects. Their challenge was to build a model of a bridge. Look at the awesome results! Way to go first grade families!!



SENSE received many generous donations of food and toiletries from the Carmel High School Community Service Club!
These items will help keep the shelves of our food pantry well-stocked. Special thank you and shout out to senior Sammi Kadinger for her hard work and leadership.

AYS spring break registration is now open! AYS will offer a spring break camp at Valley Mills Elementary from March 22 – March 29. Details can be found on the AYS website: www.ayskids.org/spring
The price is $125/week per child and $40/day per child. Register soon! Spaces are limited!
A non-refundable $25 deposit per week per child is due with registration. The deposit will be applied toward break tuition. No deposit required for families receiving CCDF or AYS financial assistance. Advance registration for break camp is required. Online registration will close Thursday, March 21.

READ3 testing will start Monday, March 18. It will last through Wednesday, March 20.
We encourage students to be at school on time since testing will take place first thing in the morning. Don't forget a good breakfast and a good nights rest will help!
Breakfast is served at the school for all students, free of charge, starting at 7:30 am.


MUFFINS FOR MOMS Thursday March 14, 2019 8:30-9:30 am All moms and female guardians with students in grades Kindergarten – 2nd grade only are invited to join us for muffins and juice. Possibly get your criminal record clear. Free and open to the public.
Expungement is the process to clear a criminal record, such as arrests, investigations and convictions, from public view so prospective employers, landlords, insurance companies, and others conducting background checks will not see it. It can give you a second chance!
This informational session will provide:
· Information about the expungement process
· Review of individual criminal history, including misdemeanors, felonies, and arrests
· Review of any fines or fees owed to the courts
· Information regarding individual eligibility for expungement
· Each individual session participant will receive a summary letter listing their eligibility status,
what steps to take to become eligible, and information regarding free and reduced legal
services
Southeast Community Services will also be there with job placement and re-entry opportunities specifically for people with a felony.


Students in Mrs. Taylor’s 3rd grade class have been working on a real-life data collection and analysis project. Today, they presented their findings through visuals and a Google Slideshow to Mrs. K.

4th grade students in Mrs. Fisher’s class have been working so hard learning about Simple Machines this quarter with a fun and engaging unit. They now get the chance to build each simple machine to create a Rube Goldberg like project at the end!
