Bus Rider Procedures

Bus Riders: Drop-off and Pickup Procedures

SENSE is proud to partner with Miller Transportation to provide bus services to and from school.

Morning Procedures

  • Arrive at your stop at least 10 minutes early.
    • Notification for bus delays, changes, etc., will be posted on ParentSquare
  • Students must be accompanied by an adult while waiting at the bus stop.
  • Students will board the bus, one at a time, and quickly find an available seat.
    • If necessary, some bus drivers may provide assigned seating.
  • Bus riders will be dropped off at DOOR #6 (Double Doors on Barth Street), where school staff will receive them to enter the building.
  • Students will be allowed to go to the cafeteria to eat breakfast. If they do not want breakfast, they will be sent to their classroom.
    • Staff members are available to help ensure students know where to go.

Dismissal Procedures

  • Bus Riders will begin dismissal starting at 3:00 PM.
  • Bus riders are dismissed one bus at a time, through DOOR #6 (Double Doors on Barth Street).
    • At the beginning of the year, teachers will walk their students to the bus door.
  • Parents should arrive at the bus stop at least 10 minutes early.
    • Notification for bus delays, changes, etc., will be posted on ParentSquare
  • Students will exit the bus, one at a time, and should immediately go to the adult picking them up.
  • If an adult is not present to pickup the student, they will not be allowed to exit the bus and will be returned to the school.
  • Older students MAY be allowed to exit the bus without an adult present, only if a walker waiver is on file at the school. To inquire about walker waivers, please call the front office at 317-423-0204.
  • If a student is being returned to the school, the school will reach out to the listed contacts to notify the family.
    • Please ensure all contact information, and emergency contact information, is updated by calling the front office at 317-423-0204.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If your student misses the bus, it will be the parent's responsibility to bring the student to the school. Please notify the front office of the student(s) name so it can be documented.

  • We ask that all parents arrive at the stop at least 10 minutes early and wait at least ten minutes after the scheduled stop time to allow for any delays due to traffic or weather conditions. If you have done this, and there has been no ParentSquare notification, please call the school at 317-423-0204. The school will reach out to Miller Transportation to determine the situation and will send out any necessary notifications via ParentSquare.

  • If you need to change the pickup and/or drop-off locations, please call the school at 317-423-0204. Please note that changing stop locations may take up to 72 hours for Miller Transportation to process. The school will let you know the date your student will be allowed to start using the new stop..

  • Yes, you can make temporary changes to your student's daily transportation. All transportation changes must be made to the front office before 1:45PM. Please include the name of the adult that will be picking up your student. If you want your student to be a Walker, they must have a walker waiver on file at the school. Students will NOT be allowed to ride a different color bus if they have not been assigned to that bus.

  • Due to limited seating availability, students must be assigned to a bus in order to ride it. The school is unable to accommodate students riding a bus on a temporary basis.

  • Please call the school, at 317-423-0204, to inform the front office of any safety concerns. The school will address these concerns with Miller Transportation to determine what, if any, changes need to be made for the safety of the students.
